During the previous week we explored the nature of evil in the world and how it caused a chasm between God and humanity. This week we will explore the way God chose to bridge that gap through the person of Jesus, and especially through his death. Paul reminds us that God took the initiative in dealing with evil. While we as a people were estranged from God, Jesus died for us. This passage reminds us that sometimes we must take the initiative in our own relationship to rebuild bridges we have burned and trust that has been destroyed.
