Are you interested in finding groups of like-minded individuals who want to participate in activities, while they grow in friendship and fellowship with each other? First Baptist Church’s small groups for adults provide opportunities for deepening relationships with others in the church. Nothing enriches your worship relationship like knowing you are worshiping with friends. That starts with your stepping forward to join our groups, so you will have a growing number of friends at church ready to welcome you with a smile.
If you are handy – don’t mind using a bit of elbow grease – or would enjoy working side-by-side with other men in the church, the ABMen is for you.
We meet the first Saturday of each month at 8 am for breakfast, fun and fellowship. This is followed by work projects. Our focus is our church home; repairing, and cleaning. Our projects include these or anything else identified by our Board of Trustees as needed to maintain our church building and grounds.
We have been lucky to have several ABMen who bring carpentry and plumbing skills to the group. Don’t feel like that is required. Many of us just bring a willing spirit. All levels of ability are welcome.
In addition to our own church home, our ABMen is affiliated with two national organizations.
If you have an interest in helping on a larger scale, through ABMen, you have the opportunity to volunteer to be the “hands and feet of Jesus” on projects such as these:
These are never required. Just opportunities for those who have the time and interest to pursue them.

First Baptist Church won’t tell you WHAT to think about today’s big issues, but we do want you TO THINK about them. And we’d love for you to join us on a number of Sundays during the year, as our Contemporary Issues Class grapples with one of the biggest concerns of our time.
Please feel free to grab a cup of coffee in Fellowship Hall, say hello to your friends, and then join us for our the Contemporary Issues Class class.
These timely and insightful programs begin at 11:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary, following morning worship and fellowship time.
In April of 2006, a few ladies from First Baptist got together to start making hats for children in our local community. The intention was provide the hats as an additional Christmas gift to those children whose name appeared on our “Helping Tree”. Our efforts have succeeded beyond expectations and today we have close to 15 ladies making these wonderful gifts for the children.
In 2019, the Heartwarming Hats group celebrated a several significant milestones. The group has made 10,535 hats, 277 mittens, 260 scarves, 99 booties, 40 4-piece “preemie” sets, 156 (+) afghans and 306 (+) baby blankets!
If you are interested in joining our group, we would love to have you. We meet in the FBC Connections Room on the second Monday of each month at 11:00 a.m. New members are always welcome and we can teach you how to make hats if needed.
