Missions

Our Mission Focus

First Baptist Church’s focus on missions brings the inclusive, unconditional love of God in word and act to the Peoria community. We are a world apart from many – maybe most – other churches. If this type of church is meaningful to you, we invite you to help us fulfill our mission by joining us and participating in witnessing God’s love in the community.

A Passion for Mission

First Baptist Church of Peoria has a long history of support for the impoverished and the needy with both local and global mission efforts. We realize that both prayerful needs and financial needs are necessary for both local and global missions. With the improvements in technology, the world is now more closely connected than ever, we feel the importance to reach “the unreached” by supporting and engaging mission ministry in places both home and abroad.  As a church and a congregation, we are committed to being an asset and a blessing to our communities and provide effort and support to a number of local area institutions.

Mission Activities: The purpose of our  mission activities is to heed God’s call to fulfill the needs of the world around us and to act in a manner that will lead others to Christ and to glorify God.

As a church, we strive to reach out and help those in need of basic provision of food and other necessities.  In order to meet these needs we take offerings each year.  These support our missions here and in foreign countries.

  • We send help following natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods and fires.
  • We send our prayers and financial support to missionaries who work to make life better for others.
  • Locally we support  “Adopt a school program” at Hines School.
  • We collect food with our “Stuff a Bus” drive in November for Friendship House.
  • We have added two new local ministries to our giving this year, “The Dream Center” and “The Center for Prevention of Abuse.”
